Dr Gatherum is amazing he has helped me through 4 miscarriages and two pergnancies. He was vary attentive, and worked quick when I was in an accident and needed an emergency c section. He fit me in after I had my third in Provo and recovered at my moms, even though he was not the delivering Doctor he took excellent care of me. I highly recommend him to anyone!!!
Ok so I wanted a natural birth and have been taking hypnobirthing classes and I went over my birth plan with Dr. Gatherum. Told him I didn't want drugs, didn't want Pitocin and most defiantly not a C-Section.... he was none to pleased with that.. he insisted that he would give me Pitocin if I have been in labor 12 hours and a C-Section at 24 hours.. I was like Ummm with my water not even broken ? thats BS!! Anyway so I left his office. the past few weeks I've had a few friends give birth and when I went to visit them I casually asked the nurses opinion about the different Dr's C-section rates , who's more natural etc... (all of which is SO within my right to know!!)
I was going to switch to Laurie Hansen and it was no big deal (she has a 3% c-section rate his was 15%).. well until she shattered her shoulder in a biking accident a couple weeks ago, so we couldn't switch to her. So its either Gatherums office or Heaths office. Heath I had talked to a couple times (and delivered all of my friends babies that delivered recently) but i figured well Ill give Gatherum another go since maybe it was a misunderstanding or something.... Well the nurse I asked TOLD Dr. Gatherum and Dr Gatherum berated me today in his office and YELLED at me telling me HOW DARE I ASK about his c-section rate etc. and told me that I needed to find someone else to deliver my baby... Essentially leaving a 34 week pregnant woman to find another Dr.!! I am so Irate!! for so many reasons... #1 I came into his office Crying and upset over other issues, and he could clearly see i was upset (my baby's father got married couple days ago and his new wife just called me today to yell at me) and he had the AUDACITY to berate me while I was in a fragile state!! and #2 Its against HIPPA law for him to have had that conversation with that nurse!!!
