We were in town for a family reunion when one of our pups was hurt, this clinic's vet and staff took our pup right in, stitched him up, and send us home without gouging us. Wonderful staff and great pricing. Hopefully we dont need emergency vet services again, but if you do this is a great place to go!
All in all: do not take your animal here. Maybe for something like an ear infection or an abscess, but not for anything more than that. I do not trust this staff with any animal. Unfortunately, this hospital has the cheapest prices in Cedar which gives them a bigger clientel pool. What you pay for is what you get- spend a bit of extra money and go elsewhere.
However, my biggest issue is with the "techs". They are very ignorant and don't know how to do things. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one of them couldn't tell the difference between a male and a female cat. Not all of them are horrible, some know what to do. But most of the time, they are very inexperienced or simply assume that paperwork is always right. For example: I had a male cat that needed to be neutered but the paperwork had been filled out wrong and had been marked as female. Now, normally, the techs would make sure that the papers are correct and that they are going to be doing the correct procedures. Instead, they sedated the cat, opened him up, and went to spay him but they surely noticed that this cat didn't have a uterus. They opened this cat up and neglected to properly stitch him shut because they had not cared enough to check. Another time, a dog had died over night after being neutered even though he was completely healthy before. As for the females, they sedate them very heavily. I would not be surprised if young, healthy females have died because they were over sedated. I have seen some female cats come out of surgery and questioned if they were even alive because they were not moving nor breathing very visably.
I scheduled a month and a half in advance. I took off work to take my dog in. When I showed up, nobody was there. I called the office and the voicemail said they were closed that day. Turns out they removed my appointment without telling me, or rescheduling. They told me I would have to completely reschedule and come back in another month. Dishonest, waste of time, frustrated. I'm going somewhere else, awful customer service. I've heard the Vets there are awesome from everyone in Cedar, the problem for me was the front desk.
Best vet in town. Dr. Esplin has built a wonderful business.
While the staff and vets themselves may be friendly and kind, they are not very knowledgeable. Dr. Esplin may have once been a great vet but I feel that time has already passed. I once saw that he allowed a random person into the surgery room to have a conversation while a cat was strapped down and wide open. That is so not okay. That wouldn't happen in a human hospital so it shouldn't happen here either.
Dr. Kelly Esplin genuinely cares for his patients, never gouges for money, and always explains the diagnosis/treatment plan thoroughly. Dr. Kelly YOU truly go the extra mile! I cannot thank you enough!
